As Per New Levels in Ministry

Ministry is service and not up for achievement or competition. To it meant …

He shouldn’t yield to temptation

Hebrews 4:15 KJV

[15] For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

It meant sin wasn’t found in him or through him

John 14:30 KJV

[30] Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

Men bore witness to this as well

1 Peter 2:21-23 KJV

[21] For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

[22] Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

[23] Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

Obedience.

It never was about influence and crowd followership.

He had it…

John 12:19 KJV

[19] The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.

Then lost it again

John 6:66 KJV

[66] From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

Even many of his disciples left him, those who ministered with him and for him

His influenced waned much,

Yet He finished his course

John 17:4 KJV

[4] I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

He glorified .

He obeyed

Hebrews 5:8 KJV

[8] Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;

No new levels of influence, but obedience,

Success? No, glorify the Father and obey!

The apostles knew of this

Obedience leads to different experiences

Acts 5:41 KJV

[41] And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

Shame, they were beaten publicly

Acts 5:40 KJV

[40] And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them , they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

It leads to martyrdom

Acts 7:59-60 KJV

[59] And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God , and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

[60] And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

It leads to a scattered and congregation

Acts 8:1 KJV

[1] And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.

Even James was equally martyred…

Acts 12:1-2 KJV

[1] Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. [2] And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

All in obedience, call it “new levels of obedience”

It never mattered to them what manner of results they got as long as God was being obeyed and glorified

Check out Phillip at Samaria

Acts 8:6,8 KJV

[6] And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.

[8] And there was great joy in that city.

Yet he’s led to leave Samaria!

We would have taught it was new levels of influence, start churches, mega congregations, since he has a city wide influence

Acts 8:26 KJV

[26] And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.

Desert! To see a single person!

Acts 8:27,29 KJV

[27] And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,

[29] Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.

Looks good, a man of influence and affluence, with such a partner, your ministry will reach more countries and do more for Jesus, we could even make him head of building committee

That’s our thinking,

Strategy but not obedience

The man receives Christ

Acts 8:37 KJV

[37] And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that is the Son of God.

and what happened to Phillip?

Acts 8:39 KJV

[39] And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

No further contacts!

No partnership forms, he sees him no more.

Obedience.

He doesn’t return to Samaria

Acts 8:40 KJV

[40] But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.

That’s the life of a minister,

You take instructions

2 Timothy 2:3-4 KJV

[3] Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

[4] No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

Don’t look for influence or success, listen to instructions and obey!

Paul saw this first hand

2 Corinthians 6:4-10 KJV

[4] But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,

[5] In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings;

[6] By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned,

[7] By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,

[8] By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true; [9] As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed;

[10] As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

Our ministry is proven in obedience which leads to diverse experiences.

Our focus should be on Him and His message.

Not men and things.

Not to ” succeed”, but obey, then we have “succeeded”, if at the end of our lives, we did what he told us to do

Not what men saw but what He saw

2 Timothy 4:7 KJV

[7] I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

Some in obedience will be doing things we won’t ever cheer, others reaching places, persons and enduring things no one would ever know till heaven,

So we must never set markers God never set for us,

So as per new levels, ensure it’s levels of obedience and submission to His will

So you won’t be in a rat race into disobedience,

Trying to compete with others, replicating what they do, and walking farther and further away from Gods plan for your life,

Tv ratings, crowds, buildings, attendances in church meetings, miracles won’t be markers,

Rather obedience.
